5-module programme: Tangible Acupuncture for Internal Medicine

Firmly rooted in our Chinese Medicine classics, this 5-module programme, as taught by the Association for Traditional Studies, is designed to teach practitioners how to work tangibly with acupuncture to treat internal disease.

The course includes over 40 hours of online video content by Andrew Nugent-Head, where Andrew lays out the foundations of working within the classical perspective: rather than relying on point indications as described in textbooks, the focus shifts back onto the practitioner’s skill of tangibly being able to manipulate the patient’s Qi. Understanding this fundamental framework of practice holds the key to being able to reliably improve the patient’s health.

The 5 in-person modules are practical days, taught in London by Andrew’s senior students Conny and Zarig Cooper. On these days, we focus on developing the relevant clinical skills and bringing to life the content from the online lectures.

On these hands-on days we cover needle techniques such as Burning Mountain/Cooling Sky and Channel Travel, as well as hand techniques such as Rocking and Deep Qi. We also practice model protocols that can be starting points to use in clinic for various internal conditions.

This exciting in-depth course covers the following concepts:

Module 1: Tonifying the Upright, Dispersing the Pernicious, Regulating the Channels

Module 2: The Eight Functions of Qi

Module 3: Doors & Pathways of Qi

Module 4: Awakening the Source

Module 5: Treatment Protocols for Internal Illnesses

At the end of this comprehensive course, participants will have reframed their way of assessing patients and offering treatments. Participants will have learned to work in a more tangible way that will reset the patient’s system and allows for much clearer treatment results.

Who can attend?

Qualified acupuncturists or third year students on a BAAB accredited course.

Previous attendees of Andrew Nugent-Head’s internal medicine seminar series (in London, Zurich, Hamburg and Frankfurt) who would like to review and deepen the material are also very welcome.

Teachers:

The pre-recorded lectures feature Andrew Nugent-Head explaining theories and background of working with internal medicine.

The in-person days are taught by Conny and Zarig Cooper. Conny and Zarig both attended Andrew’s seminar series in London between 2012 and 2016. They have since been on yearly study trips to the Alternative Clinic in Asheville, USA, to observe the taught material being used in clinical practice. In 2018, they joined Andrew’s teaching team and started assisting at his European seminars. They both teach CPD courses in London and are dedicated to sharing ATS’s teachings of tangible, effective clinical skills with acupuncturists in the UK.
